Programs
Building strong, confident, creative and decisive children and youth requires a holistic approach to education, and ENACT embraces this approach by teaching social and emotional skills through a variety of different vehicles. These initiatives understand that a sea change is required in the lives of the students—in their homes, as well as in schools as a whole, not just in one classroom for a few hours a week.
A common element in all the programs is the talented, multicultural Teaching Artists that lead them, all of whom are working actors with impressive theatre, film, and television credentials, as well as trained and experienced teachers. The Teaching Artists are supported by ENACT's team of social workers and drama therapists, a group that is also working to evaluate, assess, and identify best practices within the increasingly important field of social emotional education. Now, ENACT also has on-site program coordinators at a number of New York City schools, giving the group an ongoing presence throughout the school year, and a role in making these schools places that children and young people want to attend.
